Step back into the world of the War of 1812! Reenactors from across the Midwest will gather for the 11th Annual Officer and NCO Training Garrison at The Old Fort.
Taking place on the grounds of the newly restored Fort, the event explores the military life and frontier experience of the early 19th century when Fort Wayne served as an important center of American control in northeastern Indiana. Throughout the day, visitors can observe soldiers practicing the skills and military arts that would have been essential to an American garrison during the Federalist Era.
Reenactors representing Infantry, Artillery, Rangers, and Militia will demonstrate period military skills and everyday activities, including:
- Military Drill and Training
- Musket Loading and Firing
- Artillery Drill
- Frontier Cooking and Camp Life
- Flag Ceremonies
- Period Equipment and Uniforms
- Daily Life of the American Soldier on the Frontier
This more than a living-history display—it is an opportunity to see reenactors training in the skills, techniques, and traditions of the period while bringing the world of the War of 1812 to life.
Come experience the sights, sounds, and activities of an American military post during the early years of the nation’s history. History comes alive on the frontier!
